Bryn's puppies are 19 days old, so it's time I tell a bit about what happened recently:
After everyone opened their eyes (14th day) I put an exercise pen around the whelping box, so they have much more space to move around and receive more stimuli. The changes were spectacular after they took their new place.
They also got a bunch of new different shaped toys (and a balancing pillow) from various materials, some of them rattle or clatter. However they are more interested in playing with each other for now than toys, trying to involve Bryn too, who gets totally excited by that. I believe our next few weeks will be full of joy and happiness.
We have new guests almost every other day, including children. The puppies really appreciate them, Bryn not so much :) She is happy to see familiar people, but very mistrustful with strangers, and I noticed she acts suspicious toward weird noises that I play to the puppies, as if she would have to protect them at any second.
Apart from the noises that I play from the computer, I ring the bell regularly, but they also hear the vacuum cleaner, the blender and the washing machine every day. In addition, sometimes I bounce a big ball in the room (also because of the sight) or knock on things randomly... :D And I brush them every day with a comb, just to get them used to the touch of unfamiliar things.
The presence of Dori, my other border collie is also new to them, but they can see that there are other dogs in the world too :)
So these were the events of the last couple days, but the puppies will move outside next week, which will certainly give them a lot of new experience. I can't wait to see their reactions.
